Recipes

2 tablespoons of oats

1 tablespoon honey (optional)

1 tablespoon warm water

  1. Grind your oats in a blender into a flour-like powder.
  2. Mix ingredients to form a thick, spreadable paste.
  3. Use clean fingers or a mini/cosmetic spatula to spread the mixture evenly over your face, avoiding the eyes.
  4. Leave the mask for 10 to 15 minutes. I know doing nothing is hard. But you’ve got this. You can do it.
  5. Rinse off with lukewarm water. You can do this in your shower too. Remember to use a sink catcher so you don’t clog up the works!
  6. Pat dry and apply your regular daily moisturiser.

Minty Hair Brew

3 mint tea bags or 1 large handful of fresh mint

2 – 3 cups of just boiled water

  1. Rinse your mint leaves if using fresh from the garden or veg aisle.
  2. Place leaves or tea bags (or a mix of both) in a glass jug and add just-boiled water.
  3. Steep for about 20 minutes then remove tea bags / leaves.
  4. Wash hair with regular shampoo, rinse and squeeze out excess water.
  5. Pour cooled minty brew onto the top of your scalp, about a third at a time and work into your scalp and hair. Repeat until your brew is finished.
  6. You can leave the minty brew in your hair or rinse it out later and follow with your regular conditioner.

Instant Mani Mix

1 tablespoon coconut oil

1 tablespoon granulated sugar, like caster sugar

1 teaspoon honey (optional)

  1. Mix ingredients together, adding honey for extra hydration if you need it.
  2. Massage the mixture gently into your cuticles, fingers and hands. Give your cuticles extra attention and push them back gently.
  3. Rinse off, dry your hands and finish off with your favourite hand cream.

Try: You can put the mix into a small jar, deep enough to fit half a finger, then simply rotate each finger in the jar for about 10 seconds. A semi-portable option you can do while finally getting to watch a YouTube video you’d saved for later. Use a kitchen cloth under the jar to wipe your finger and catch any mess.

Homemade Fruit & Veg Wash

Whether you’re eating them or applying them, giving your fresh ingredients a wash beforehand helps get rid of any residues. Plain water is good too – rub harder produce with your hands or use a veg brush.

For hard fruit and veg:

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 cups water

Spray on or soak for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

For leafy greens, herbs and berries:

1 part white vinegar

3 parts water

Soak for 5 to 10 minutes then rinse well.
